Conclusion

Hence, this study considered the history of the Los Angeles Public Library System, leading up to the creation of the Vermont Square Branch and other branch libraries. In addition, the first 40 years of the Vermont Square Branch Library were discussed. We see how these first 40 years were crucial to the development of the library, and how many important people played a key role in its history. These first 40 years were important because the library was a popular community library and at its height during those decades; they also paved the way for the modern-day Vermont Square Library today. In addition, it was shown how the library's history was tied to the surrounding community's history. Hence, though the library is a shadow of its former self today, it is still important and its rich history is one that all should learn about.
