Field, Helen
Worked as a senior attendant from 1916 to 1917 (Los Angeles Public Library, 1936, p. 7).

Foye-Veazey, Betsey
An attendant from October 1917 to October 1919. She later became the department librarian in charge of the branches (Los Angeles Public Library, 1936, p. 2).

Greagan, Isabel
Worked as a librarian from September 23, 1949 to September 30, 1949 (Los Angeles Public Library, 1949, p. 13).

Greene, Ruth A.
Worked as a junior attendant. It is unknown when she joined the staff; however, she resigned from her post on June 16, 1931.

Griffin, Leora
A children’s librarian from 1920 to 1921 (Los Angeles Public Library, 1936, p. 7).

Haas, Estelle
A full-time clerical librarian from 1920 to 1922 (Los Angeles Public Library, 1936, p. 7).

Hall, Virginia
A full-time clerical librarian from 1933 to 1936 (Los Angeles Public Library, 1936, p. 8).

Hart, Mary Gertrude
Worked as an assistant branch librarian from 1930 until her death in the spring of 1935. Was well-known and admired by her colleagues in the public library system (Los Angeles Public Library, 1936, pp. 2, 7).

Hart, Veva
Former first assistant librarian to Elizabeth Riddell at Long Beach City Schools Library. She became the first senior library assistant in 1913, serving alongside Caroline Brittan. Worked as head librarian from 1918 until October of 1920, when she was transferred to the Lincoln Heights Branch Library (Los Angeles Public Library, 1936, p. 1).

Hayes, Ruby J.
A children’s librarian from 1931 to 1933 (Los Angeles Public Library, 1936, p. 8).

Hestwood, Mary S.
Former Griffith Park librarian who was a librarian at the Vermont Square Branch during the 1930s and early 1940s. On January 1, 1940, a 6-months exchange was planned between her and Josephine Edwards, the Assistant City Librarian of New Rochelle, New York. On April 1, Hestwood became pregnant and was granted maternity leave for one year. During her absence, Edwards took over her duties as librarian. On April 1, 1941, Hestwood returned to New Rochelle to finish up her work at the library. Upon returning to Los Angeles, she was transferred to the Art Department at the Central Library. She later left the library and served as an army hospital librarian and with the occupation forces in Europe during World War II (Los Angeles Public Library, 1949, p. 6).

Holmes, Frances Louise
A senior attendant from 1920 to 1923 (Los Angeles Public Library, 1936, pp. 2, 7).

Jackson, Emilie
Temporary replacement for Veva Hart after her departure from the library in 1920. Was the former head of the Periodical Department at the Central Library. Jackson remained head of the library until December of 1920, when she transferred to the newly-built Wilshire Branch Library. She later retired from librarianship after opening the Washington Irving Branch (Los Angeles Public Library, 1936, p. 1).

Johnson, Frederick W.
A USC student who worked as a library page from 1929 to 1934, according to the Los Angeles Times ("First Patrons Aid," 1943).

Joyce, Alice
A children’s librarian from November 1, 1928 to January 1, 1929 (Los Angeles Public Library, 1936, p. 8).

Kendig, Amy
A full-time clerical librarian from 1934 to 1935 (Los Angeles Public Library, 1936, p. 8).

Knapp, Edith
A full-time clerical librarian from 1931 to 1936 (Los Angeles Public Library, 1936, p. 8).

Kovacevich Trinajstich, Stella
A librarian who worked during the late 1930s/early 1940s. In 1941, she left the library to take a temporary post in the Engineering Department at the Central Library, which was soon followed by substitute work. She was replaced by Alice McDermott, a librarian from the El Sereno Branch (Vermont Square Branch Library, n.d., p. 30).

Latter, Karl
A student who worked as a library page in 1919 (Los Angeles Public Library, 1919, p. 10).

Learned, Annabelle
A senior attendant from October 1919 to September 1920. She later became department head in charge of stations (Los Angeles Public Library, 1936, p. 2).

Lefler, Gracie
A student who worked as a library page in 1914 (Los Angeles Public Library, 1914, p. 30).

Livingston, Jeanne
A full-time clerical librarian from 1935 to 1936 (Los Angeles Public Library, 1936, p. 8).

Lovdal, Irene
Replaced Medora Rice as senior librarian from April of 1952 to November of 1953 (Los Angeles Public Library, 1949, pp. 5, 13).
